Bung Hatta University delegation pays a courtesy call on President Moriwaki

Four delegates from Bung Hatta University, Indonesia paid a courtesy call on President Hisataka Moriwaki on October 27, 2017. They were Prof. Azwar Ananda, President, Dr. Themmy Thamrin, Dr. Elfiondri and Dr. Reni Desmiarti. The meeting was attended by Dr. Fumiaki Suzuki, Executive Director for International Affairs and Public Relations, Professor Mutsuhiro Shima, Associate Professor Toshiro Yamada of the Faculty of Engineering, and Ms. Haruko Nonomura, Director for International Affairs and Planning.

Bung Hatta University was established as a private university in 1981 in Padang, West Sumatra, Indonesia. After the Faculty of Engineering, Gifu University and Bung Hatta University signed an Agreement on Faculty and Student Exchanges in July 2015, the two universities have been actively promoting student inbound and outbound exchange to this day.

In the meeting with President Moriwaki, Prof. Azwar Ananda expressed his strong wishes to strengthen friendship with the Faculty of Engineering, and expand partnership into multiple faculties of Gifu University in the near future. In response, President Moriwaki started, "The number of students from Indonesia is rising in Gifu University, and we would like to form a strong bond with many more universities in Indonesia with Bung Hatta University as a successful precedent.

After the meeting with the President, the delegation was invited to observe Gifu University students' studying environment firsthand in Academic Core, University Library and lecture rooms to see.

It is hoped that Gifu University and Bung Hatta University will continue to work for lively, dynamic partnership in a wide range of fields.
