The 6th Press Conference by the President for AY 2017 was held on October 18, 2017.

First, President Hisataka Moriwaki spoke about "Prized Gifu Dialect - Toward Publication of Gifu Dialect Dictionary" in association with "Gifu University Future Vision Toward 2025." Next, Professor Naotake Iketani, Dean of the Faculty of Education gave a summary of the publication, which was followed by the detailed explanation of the dictionary by Professor Toshihiro Yamada of the Faculty of Education.

Professor Yamada compiled a database of Gifu dialect (approximately 100,000 words) used in the history papers of every municipality within Gifu and Aichi prefectures from 2011 to 2016. He then created a map showing a unique distribution of dialect between the two prefectures. He also spoke about the publication of the dictionary which contains 2,400 Gifu dialect words, and 800 maps indicating strong connection between Gifu and Aichi dialect.

He wrapped up his speech by saying, "I hope people will become more interested in their hometowns and be proud of wonderful culture of Gifu Prefecture through publication. I also wish that the dictionary is used for school education in Gifu Prefecture."
