Partnership Agreement with National Center for Geriatrics and Gerontology, and Gifu Prefectural Research Institute for Health and Environmental Sciences

Partnership agreements were made between the United Graduate School of Drug Discovery and the Medical Information Sciences, Gifu University ("Graduate School") and the Gifu Prefectural Research Institute for Health and Environmental Sciences ("Institute" location: Kakamigahara City, Gifu Prefecture), and between the Graduate School and the National Center for Geriatrics and Gerontology ("Center" location: Obu City, Aichi Prefecture) on September 6, 2017. These agreements are designed to promote cooperation over educational research activities between two institutions respectively.

In the joint signing ceremony, Professor Masayuki Niwa, Dean of the Graduate School, Mr. Katsuhiko Yanagisawa, Director of the Center and Mr. Yukitaka Arikawa, Director of the Institute gave their signatures to the agreements in the presence of representatives from each organization.

The Graduate School has already concluded partnership agreements with five organizations including pharmaceutical companies and research institutes and the officials from each organization are invited to give a lecture or instruct students as visiting teaching staff at the Graduate School. With the latest conclusion of the agreements with the Center and the Institute, both of which are located close to Gifu University, it is expected that the Graduate School will have more substantial degree programs under the instructions of visiting teaching staff from each organization in addition of regular lectures.

In Academic Year of 2017, officials of the Center were enrolled in the Graduate School and the Graduate School alumni who obtained diplomas are participating in joint research programs implemented at the Institute. Hopes are already high for strong, thriving research exchanges for years to come.

One of the pillars of Gifu University's Future Vision Towards 2025 is "social contribution" and the Graduate School Charter states, "educate students to become actively involved in regional contribution." It is now expected that the new partnership agreements will provide students with an opportunity to gain deeper and global insights and visions, and we hope that such students will show a strong leadership in diverse fields in the near future.
