Gifu University delegation visited the National University of Malaysia (Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia: UKM), Malaysia on July 20 and 21, 2017. They were Dr. Fumiaki Suzuki, Executive Director for International Relations and Public Relations, Dr. Hiroyuki Koyama, Advisor to the President, Professor Shoichi Kutsumizu, Professor Masato Ikeda, Associate Professor Lim Lee Wah of the Faculty of Engineering, Ms. Haruko Nonomura, Director for International Affairs and Planning and Mr. Yuki Yamada, Section Chief, Planning Division, General Affairs and Planning Department. Gifu University and UKM concluded the university-level agreement in September 2016.

The delegation attended the Malaysia Polymer International Conference 2017 held at UKM and later met with Prof. Datuk Dr. Noor Azlan Ghazali, Vice Chancellor and other UKM officials. They discussed the specifics of the joint degree program starting from AY 2019 between Gifu University and UKM, such as mutual visit and the current state of program preparation by relevant professors. The delegation's latest visit became a steady step forward in implementation of the joint degree program in 2019.
