Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research Briefing Session

Gifu University invited Mr. Shozo Matsumoto of the Scientific Research Aid Division, Research Promotion Bureau, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) as a guest speaker for the Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research Briefing Session held at Gifu University on July 26, 2017.

Gifu University has been advocating the promotion of quality research, the real basics of education, in its Period III of the Mid-Term Objectives and Plan. The university has set a goal of winning Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research of Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) as one of its research strategies, and is extensively supporting research activities to enhance overall university's research capabilities.

The major objective of this briefing session is to make the latest situations about grants-in-aid of JSPS widely known to the public and increase the number of applications for, and winning of the grants in AY 2018.

After President Hisataka Moriwaki's opening speech, Mr. Matsumoto made his presentation entitled, "Trend of Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research." He spoke about a summary of grants-in-aid and the reality surrounding the grants in detail.

Around 200 people attended including President Moriwaki, the board members, researchers and the teaching and administrative staff responsible for the grants at Gifu University, officials from Gifu Pharmaceutical University and higher educational institutions within Gifu Prefecture.

After his presentation, Mr. Matsumoto took many questions from the audience, and active exchange between the speaker and the audience showed people's strong interest in grant-in-aid system.
