Special Session of English Circle of Friends by CIR (Coordinator for International Relations) of Gifu Prefectural Government is held

Gifu University Head Office for Glocalization (GHOGL) launched a new English conversation gathering called, "English Circle of Friends" from May this year in place of the conventional "English Lounge."

Ms. Gaelle Lagrouas (from France) and Mr. Peter Collins (from the U.K.) were invited to Gifu University to speak at the 3rd English Circle of Friends as special guest speakers on June 19, 2017. The two are currently working for the Gifu Prefectural Government as CIR (Coordinator for International Relations). They spoke about their experiences of studying abroad and many useful tips to live in different countries.
While at college and at university, Ms. Lagrouas studied in Japan and Mr. Collins in Germany. By showing slides and photos, the two spent a lot of time talking about what they have learned and how to overcome difficulties while staying overseas and mental preparations before studying abroad.

In the following question and answer time, the participants asked the speakers many questions in English.
Around 30 people including students, teaching and administrative staff took part in and the session turned out to be a big success as many positive feedback came from the participants. Some wrote in the questionnaire, "It was a great chance for me to be exposed to real English-speaking environment," "I am thinking about studying abroad soon and the speakers' advice meant a lot to me."

English Circle of Friends continues to offer a variety of English-learning opportunities to students, teaching and administrative staff of Gifu University so that they can experience lively, dynamic international exchange while on campus.
