The Physical Society of Japan (JSP) has established the Outstanding Paper Award of the Physical Society of Japan in order to recognize and praise the achievement of researchers who have made important contributions towards the progress of physics. Professor Nakazawa published the papers titled, "The first evidence of a deeply bound state of Xi - 14N system" in 2015, describing how he and his team succeeded in understanding the nature of the subatomic "xi" cascade particle within the atomic nucleus ("Kiso event") for the first time ever. JSP awarded Professor Nakazawa with the 22nd Outstanding Paper Award of the Physical Society of Japan to honor his breakthrough discovery and great achievements (as of February 18, 2017).

The papers are carried at Gifu University journal, "Gidai no Ibuki No.31."
