Gifu University Team wins The 11th Design Competition of Public Policy

The 11th Design Competition of Public Policy of the Committee of Infrastructure Planning and Management (IP)* was held in Hokkaido University on May 29 and 30, 2016. A team of Gifu University students from the Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering won the "Committee of Infrastructure Planning and Management Prize." The competition is held annually and the Gifu University team celebrated the 6th consecutive win in the 11th Design Competition.

On June 10, 2016, the team members visited the President's Office to report their achievement to President Hisataka Moriwaki.

In the Meeting, Associate Professor Yoshifumi Demura of the Faculty of Engineering who steered the team to victory, and the students introduced their research themes for the Competition, "renovation of old buildings at Mitonomachi, Gifu City through collaboration with people," and "creation of sustainable community offering greater accessibility to the residents and for strong regional economies."

President Moriwaki praised their success and said, "Participation in the competitions will be a significant learning experience for everyone in view of regional contribution. I hope that the members of the team share this wonderful achievement with their juniors and pass on this tradition to the next.
