Gifu University Selected under Center of Community (COC+) Program by MEXT

Gifu University applied for a Center of Community Program for local revitalization called "COC+ Program" sponsored by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), and was successfully selected. The aim of the COC+ Program is to encourage people who can play key roles for local revitalization to settle in the local community. Under this program, the universities will work for job creation that attracts students in collaboration with municipalities and local companies. The universities will also strive to implement necessary reforms in educational curriculums to develop the human resources that the community needs. MEXT selected 40 projects among 56 applications from national, public and private universities and technical colleges.

The overview of the project of Gifu University is as follows:

Project Name: Step Up in Gifu & Positive Effect on Gifu - Collaboration for Cultivation of Community-Based Business Leaders

Project Outline:

In an effort to be a regional-oriented university, Gifu University has been promoting the COC Project to cultivate community-based human resources who can play an active leadership role in the region and who can address regional issues using their specialized knowledge. Furthermore, considering that the population outflow from Gifu Prefecture has been excessive, it is particularly necessary to cultivate people who understand the attractiveness of local companies and settle in Gifu to make a contribution to the revitalization of local businesses.
Therefore, in this project, Gifu University will work together with municipalities and companies in Gifu, and grow ties with universities in Gifu as well as in Aichi with the aim of contributing to local revitalization by providing job opportunities in Gifu to students who study in Gifu and elsewhere.

This project is co-organized by Gifu University, Chubu Gakuin University & College, Chubu University, Nihon Fukushi University, Gifu Prefecture, the Gifu Employers' Association, the Juroku Bank Co, Ltd., the Ogaki Kyoritsu Bank, Ltd., and Mynavi Corporation (private job information provider).
