Summer School Program 2015:Closing Ceremony & Farewell Party
The International Student Center held the Summer School Program Closing Ceremony & Farewell Party at the Second Dining Hall on Wednesday, July 22.
A total of 80 people attended the Ceremony and Party. They were:
President Hisataka Moriwaki,
Dr. Fumiaki Suzuki, Executive Director for International Affairs and Public Relations (Director of the Gifu University Head Office for Glocalization: GHOGL),
Twenty-one Summer School students,
Members of Gujo Hachiman International Friendship Association (GIFA), who arranged the Gujo Program for the students,
Host families,
Student tutors and
Staff of the International Student Center.
In the Summer School Program 2015, all of the participating 22 students successfully completed the program. They are 17 students from Lund University, Sweden in eight-week course, two from Northern Kentucky University, USA and three from Mokpo National University, South Korea in four-week course.
First, Dr. Toyohide Takeuchi, Director of the International Student Center made an opening remark and introduced the host families. Next, President Hisataka Moriwaki offered congratulatory words to the students and delivered a speech. Then, Mr. Yukihiko Sumi, Chair of GIFA gave a speech and proposed a toast, which signaled a start of the Ceremony & Party. All the participants were enjoying lively conversation with one another and took pictures with host families including children. They shared a lot of wonderful memories of Gujo with the host families.
When the Party was in full swing, the Program Completion Certificate Awarding began. Every time Dr. Takeuchi handed a certificate to each student, the hall was filled with a big applause. After the Awarding, Mr. Mårup, Emil from Lund University, Ms. Clark, Catherine from Northern Kentucky University and Ms. Jeong Hwayeon from Mokpo National University spoke about their experiences in Japan and expressed their appreciation to everyone concerned in Japanese.
In this Awarding, Mr. Mitsuaki Seono, the 4th year student of the Faculty of Applied Biological Sciences who served as a Summer School tutor for four years, was also given a letter of appreciation and a gift from Dr. Takeuchi.
At the end of the Ceremony and Party, all of the student tutors sang some songs in chorus for the departing students and took group photos.
The Summer School Students will keep on enjoying the rest of their stay in Japan before their returning such as watching Nagara River Fireworks or visiting various places across the country. It is strongly hoped that these students come back to Gifu University as exchange students in the near future.
