Summer School Program 2015:The Four-week Course Begins

The eight-week course of the Summer School Program 2015, which started on June 3, has passed the halfway period, and the four-week course began on June 24. There are a total of 22 students in the Summer School Program, including three students from Mokpo National University, South Korea and two students from Northern Kentucky University (NKU), who joined the four-week course. This term marks the first in 16 years that students have come from NKU. Counting Japanese students, the Summer School students represent four nationalities.

The opening ceremony and orientation for the four-week course was held on June 24 at the International Student Center. At the ceremony, the teaching and administrative staff were introduced, and a welcome speech was delivered by Dr. Toyohide Takeuchi, Director of the International Student Center. He greeted the students and asked them to take care of themselves but enjoy the Japanese summer. The students then introduced themselves in Japanese, and subsequently attended the orientation and a campus tour. They will be taking Japanese classes and cultural workshops with students from Lund University, Sweden, who are taking part in the eight-week course.
