Gifu Chan: "Professor Takagi, parents and children learn how to prevent and mitigate natural disasters together"

Professor Takagi visits some disaster-hit areas and the facilities where citizens can study natural disasters. By using easy-to-understand words and expressions, Professor Takagi highlights the importance of disaster prevention and mitigation for parents and children living in Gifu Prefecture. He also explains why it is so crucial to protect ourselves in case of emergencies.

The theme of the 3rd episode is "Preparations for Natural Disasters."

From Gifu University where Professor Takagi is researching and giving lectures about disaster prevention, he and two pairs of parents and children from abroad discuss how to protect ourselves from natural disasters by comparing preventive measures taken by people overseas and those taken by Japanese. They also learn the mechanism of an earthquake as well as effective disaster prevention by playing "Disaster Mitigation Study" trump cards. Lastly, they talk about major differences in people's preparedness for major disasters and disasters that actually happened in Japan and abroad.
