Exemption of Entrance Examination Fees for AY 2024 enrollment for those who were affected by the Noto Peninsula Earthquake on January 1, 2024.

Gifu University takes the following entrance examination fee exemption measures for the examinees for AY 2024 enrollment, who were affected by the Noto Peninsula Earthquake that occurred on January 1, 2024, in order to reduce their financial burdens and secure their educational opportunities. These measures remain effective for five years from FY 2024 to FY 2028.

*The measures are not included in Gifu University's 'Admission Requirements' which are currently under circulation/in public and the latest 'Admission Requirements.'

Exemption Measures Details

1. Entrance Examinations to which the Exemption Measures can be Applied
   Every entrance examination carried out by Gifu University, which includes;

  • General Selection Examination by Faculty (carried out on the first and second dates)
  • Special Selection Examination by Faculty (including school recommendation-type I and II, examinees including working adults, returnees, privately funded international students, and transfer students)
  • Entrance Examinations to the Graduate Schools

2. Examinees Eligible to Exemption

Examinees who are from the areas of disasters designated by the 'Disaster Relief Act' after the Noto Peninsula Earthquake on January 1, and also fall into the following two categories;

  1. A house owned by a tuition fee contributor was totally destroyed, significantly destroyed, half destroyed, or was swept away.
  2. A tuition fee contributor is deceased or has gone missing.

3. Application Methods

  1. If you apply for the entrance examination fee exemption, please send the completed application forms (please click '4. Application Forms' below for downloading) to the Admission Division, the Student Affairs Department, Gifu University by post at least 10 days before the entrance examination application staring date. Applicants who send the forms to Gifu University, do not need to pay the entrance examination fees (if you find a space to 'affix Bank Transfer Statement' in the forms, please write in the space that you have already applied for the exemption). However, if you send the exemption application forms just prior to the entrance examination application starting date or have not sent the forms before the starting date begins for some reasons, Gifu University faculty staff members may contact you.

  2. If you pay the entrance examination fee by a bank transfer in time of your application, you will be reimbursed by submitting the following documents to the Admission Division;
    • '4. Application Forms i. Victim's Certificate, or ii. Documents certifying a tuition fee contributor's death or mission,' (please see below)
    • 'Application Forms, Bank Transfer Request Forms,' (please download from the 'Files' below and,
    • 'Documents Certifying Bank Transfer of Entrance Examination Fees.'

    If you apply for the exemption after you paid the entrance examination fees by a bank transfer, please bring '4. Application Forms i. Victim's Certificate or ii. Documents certifying a tuition fee contributor's death or missing' and completed 'Application Forms, Bank Transfer Request Forms' to the Admission Division, the Student Affairs Department, Gifu University or send them to the address below by post.

4. Exemption Application Forms

Please attach the following two documents to the Application Forms for Entrance Examination Fee Exemption (you can download the Application Forms from the 'Files' below)

  1. Victim's Certificate (for those who fall into the category '2. Examinees Eligible to Exemption i. 'above) (a copy can be accepted)
  2. Documents certifying a tuition fee contributor's death or missing (for those who fall into the category of '2. Examinees Eligible to Exemption ii.' above).

5. Application by the Internet (Faculty Examination: General Examination Screening, School Recommendation-type Screening II).

When your entrance examination application is accepted by the university through '3. Application Method i.'above, we will notify you of a password by email or by post that you will need for an exemption procedure in time of entrance examination application by the internet.
