On Tuesday, March 7, 2023, the laboratory of Professor KASUGA Kohsho (Health and Physical Education Course, the Faculty of Education) was presented with the "Sport in Life Award 2022" at the "Second Sport in Life Award Ceremony" hosted by the Japan Sports Agency.

As part of the "Sport in Life Project" promoted by the Japan Sports Agency to realize society where people can enjoy sports, the "Second Sport in Life Award" honors the individuals and organization who have contributed to increasing the number of people enjoying sports. Professor Kasuga and the Gifu Sports Association have been dedicating their efforts to the project called, "Tsuyoizo! Gifu-kko (Be strong, Gifu children!)" and their long-term commitments to promoting sports were acknowledged by the Japan Sports Agency. Through the "Tsuyoizo! Gifu-kko" project, Gifu University students and the members of the association visit elementary schools and kindergartens within Gifu Prefecture to encourage children to exercise even during the pandemic, and teach them how to enjoy sports in their daily lives.

On Tuesday, April 11, Professor Kasuga and five students of his laboratory visited the Office of the President and reported the award. In his meeting with President YOSHIDA Kazuhiro, Professor Kasuga said, "We are telling about the real joy of sports to children and encouraging them to exercise on a daily basis. I hope that school teachers also refer to our project so that children fully enjoy sports at physical exercise classes."

President Yoshida congratulated them on their award and said, "Education at elementary school has a lot to do with determining the future of Japan. Your long-term commitments are now widely acknowledged. I hope your activities expand to the elderly citizens and meet the needs of society."
