Agreement signed for cultivation of next-generation regional leaders, sound growth of youths and promotion of lifelong learning in Gifu City

The Center for Collaborative Study with Community (CCSC), Gifu University and Gifu Prefectural Education and Culture Foundation signed an agreement on cultivation of next-generation regional leaders, sound growth of youths and promotion of lifelong learning in Gifu City.

As an implementation body of COC+*, CCSC has been carrying out various educational programs beginning with internship programs to cultivate next-generation regional leaders. Its major goal is to develop human resources who are capable of addressing regional issues of local communities, municipal governments or industries.

The Gifu Prefectural Education and Culture Foundation is an external body of Gifu City Government. It was established to create a vibrant community where citizens can find joys and sense of fulfillment. Its mission includes operation of Gifu City Youth Outdoor Learning Center1), Gifu City Lifelong Learning Center2), etc. for the promotion of sound growth of the youths and citizens' lifelong learning.

On Thursday, January 20, 2022, a signing ceremony began with an opening address by President Kazuhiro Goto of the Foundation who said, "We are hoping that CCSC's expertise could help us solve various regional problems and contribute to the promotion of sound growth of youths as well as citizens' lifelong learning." Professor Koichi Masukawa, Director of CCSC expressed his strong wish that the latest signing could accelerate further collaboration between CCSC and the Foundation, develop human resources and make Gifu City full of hopes and dreams in the future.

The two institutions continue to collaborate for regional revitalization and human resource development for the prosperity of local communities.

*COC+ (Center of Community Program for Local Revitalization) projects: projects of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT). Their objectives include assembling people together to regions for revitalization by: - offering attractive job opportunities to students in collaboration with universities, local governments and businesses and, - supporting university's curriculum reform efforts necessary to cultivate personnel sought by regions.
