The "Teacher Education Course" of the Graduate School of Education, Gifu University and the National Institute of School Teachers and Staff Development (NITS) jointly opened the nation's first workshop for school administration for children with special needs as part of "NITS and Teacher Education Course Collaboration Workshop Support Program*"

The workshop is made of lectures and practical training programs based on the results of surveys on class administration through the support from principals of Gifu prefectural schools for children with special needs and teachers, etc. *English name tentative

The workshop was held twice. In the first workshop on Wednesday, August 18, 2021, participants attended the lectures on school management for children with special needs and drafted plans for the improvement of class operations in "problem-solving training." In the second workshop on Thursday, December 23, the participants exchanged opinions over the results of the first workshop, and expressed their views and discussed actions to take as personnel responsible for children with special needs. In the following general exchange session, the participants engaged in group discussions over the following subjects: 1) educational curriculum, class operations (elementary and junior high schools), 2) building trust with guardians (elementary and junior high schools), 3) education working with local communities (senior high school). Regarding these three subjects, the participants later made presentations on the roles of personnel in charge of promoting education for children with special needs and visions and action necessary to fulfill these roles. Participants developed their understanding about the importance of proposing their visions/plans for class administration to others as well as sharing, putting them into practice and renewing them.
