On August 12, 2020, monetary donation for international students was made by Gifu Minami Lions Club. The club provides scholarship fund for three international students every year (120,000 yen per student), but this year, they kindly offered 500,000 yen for ten students (50,000 yen per student) who are suffering from the economic fallout from the COVID-19 pandemic.

On behalf of international students, Executive Director Yoshihiko Uematsu of Gifu University Organization for Promotion of Glocalization (GU-GLOCAL) expressed his appreciation for the Club members at the presentation ceremony held at a meeting room of the University Library.

"With the fund, I can pay my rent and utility fees. Thank you so much," "I feel relieved from the stress of everyday life." Many words of appreciation were also expressed by the students.
