Public Lecture 2019 in Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta

Professor Masateru Senge, Dean of Gifu University United Graduate School of Agricultural Science (UGSAS), Professor Kohei Nakano and Professor Ken Hiramatsu (both are also from UGSAS) gave their public lectures before the students enrolled in agribusiness study program at Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta, Indonesia on November 19, 2019.

The term, "agribusiness" expresses extensive economic activities related to agriculture. The students studying agribusiness study program will learn from supply of agricultural resources to food production systems (food production, distribution and processing, etc.) as well as the environment surrounding business activities.

Three Gifu University professors were invited to speak at the public lecture by Dr. Zuhud Rozaki, Secretary of Agribusiness at Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta. Dr. Zuhud Rozaki studied at UGSAS under the supervision of Professor Senge while he was in Japan.

The following were the speech titles and names of speakers:

- "Climate Change Impact on Irrigation" by Professor Masateru Senge

- "Aquatic Ecosystems in rural areas" by Professor Ken Hiramatsu

- "Freshness Assessment and Prediction Technology for Fruit and Vegetable to Establish Smart Food Chain System" by Professor Kohei Nakano

Each speaker was given 50-minute to make presentations on environmental changes found in agriculture, and new technologies to deal with social transformation, etc.

Around 140 students were eagerly listening to the presentations, and three professors' lectures generated a lively discussion between speakers and the students.
