Joint Graduate School of Veterinary Sciences: Nameplate Setting-up Ceremony

A nameplate setting-up ceremony was held for Gifu University Joint Graduate School of Veterinary Sciences on April 1, 2019.

Gifu University established the Joint Department of Veterinary Medicine with Tottori University in 2013 for collaboration in veterinary medicine education.

For more discussions between the two universities over the graduate school education in veterinary sciences and medicine, the new Joint Graduate School of Veterinary Sciences started at the respective university from this April. It aims to offer students an opportunity to study the subjects which incorporate distinctive academic features of both universities.

At the ceremony, President Hisataka Moriwaki said, "With the opening of the Joint Graduate School of Veterinary Sciences, a comprehensive undergraduate and graduate school system was launched. We all look forward to seeing the school becoming the nation's best in providing a high degree education to undergraduate and graduate students in veterinary sciences and medicine in the future." "Students at the school will study three specialized subjects: livestock hygiene and public health, "One Health*" and treatment for incurable disease/drug discovery. Those who complete the curriculum will blaze a new trail in the field of veterinary medicine and sciences in the near future." said Professor Toshihiro Unno, Dean of the Joint Graduate School of Veterinary Sciences.

The school will continue to strive for the development of human resources contributing to both international and local communities.
