International Students Field Trip 2017

As part of educational programs for international students, Gifu University Head Office for Glocalization (GHOGL) offers international students an opportunity to enjoy a field trip every year. The purposes of this trip are: to help international students foster better understanding about nature, culture, history (represented by world's cultural heritage sites, etc.) and industries in Japan, and also to promote friendship among international students. A total of 43 people (40 international students and three university staff) participated in the trip on September 6 and 7, 2017.

On the first day of September 6, they visited Himeji Castle (Hyogo Prefecture), one of the world's cultural heritage sites where the students were given a guided tour. After a tour, they took many photos with the castle for a background. All of the participants were truly captivated by the magnificent beauty of the castle.

On September 7, the students observed a manufacturing process of sweets and snacks at Glico Company and enjoyed watching a cartoon film at 3D theater there. Afterwards, they took a leisurely walk at KOBE Tetsujin Sangokushi Gallery, Wakamatsu Park and Kobe China Town (all are within Hyogo Prefecture).

In this two-day field trip, international students had many opportunities to observe wonderful aspects of Japanese culture. We hope that the trip 2017 will become one of unforgettable memories for all the participants in the years to come.
