Gifu University Delegation pays a courtesy call on the Port of Nagoya Public Aquarium

On July 28, 2016, Professor Hirokazu Fukui, Dean of the Faculty of Applied Biological Sciences and other university delegates paid a courtesy call on the Port of Nagoya Public Aquarium. The Faculty of Applied Biological Sciences and the Port of Nagoya Public Aquarium signed an agreement on academic exchange on June 8, 2009 under the following shared goals:

 - Promotion of information and technology exchange and joint academic research over pathological study of wild animals and species preservation
 - Based on the above, the two parties aim for growth and acceleration of educational exhibition of wild animals
During the courtesy meeting between the university delegates and the Aquarium staff, they reconfirmed the shared goals, and agreed with having more talks and discussions between the two parties in the future.

During the meeting, one of the staff members of the Aquarium appeared and demonstrated his excellent maneuvering of killer whales in a huge water tank. He graduated from the Faculty of Applied Biological Sciences and gained employment with this Aquarium. The delegation was closely watching his wonderful work performance for a while.

After the meeting, Director of the Aquarium showed the delegation around the facility. He introduced the panels showing various joint research activities implemented under the agreement, and then guided the delegation to the site where beluga whales are being trained by a keeper, Beluga whales are one of the subjects for joint research between Theriogenology Research Laboratory of the Faculty of Applied Biological Sciences and the Aquarium.

It is hoped that the Gifu University delegation's visit to the Port of Nagoya Public Aquarium would generate momentum to further advance the academic exchanges between the two organizations for many years to come.
