Gifu University 2nd Commendation Ceremony for High Achievers in TOEIC Scores AY 2016 is held

On April 26, 2017, Gifu University 2nd Commendation Ceremony for High Achievers in TOEIC Scores AY 2016 was held. In this project, a scholarship is awarded to the university staff (both the administrative and technical staff) who score 800 points or higher on the TOEIC test in the hope that it would encourage staff to make further efforts for their English proficiency.

At the ceremony, Dr. Fumiaki Suzuki, Director of the Gifu University Head Office for Glocalization (GHOGL) presented a certificate to Ms. Ayuko Miyamoto of the Faculty of Applied Biological Sciences, who has been qualified for academic year 2016.
After the ceremony, Dr. Suzuki and Ms. Haruko Nonomura, Director for International Affairs and Planning exchanged opinions with Ms. Miyamoto over her use of English in day-to-day work and her TOEIC strategies. Dr. Suzuki gave her words of encouragement and said, "With our university's internationalization endeavor going on, English proficiency of staff is more required than ever. We expect that winners of a scholarship will become a source of inspiration for other staff and help our effort enhance university staff's overall English skills.

This project started in 2015 based on a proposal by young staff of the university. The aim of this project is to promote internationalization in office work and to improve student services by boosting the number of staff who are highly capable of communication in English. We will continue this project to expedite our globalization initiatives for the days to come.
