The 3rd "Hanasu-kai Talking Session" is held

On November 10, 2016, Dr. Nobuo Murakami, Vice Director of Gifu University Hospital hosted the 3rd "Hanasu-kai Talking Session" at the Event Corner on the first floor of the Hospital.

Doctors of the Hospital take questions from the patients and directly answer them during the session. The 1st session was held in June, 2016 and Dr. Shinji Ogura, Director of the Hospital made a presentation entitled, "University Hospital: Last Line of Defense." In September, Dr. Hiroki Iida, Vice Director of the Hospital spoke about surgery preparations, anesthesia during surgeries and palliative care under the title of "Work of Anesthetist."

The topic of the 3rd session was "Countermeasures against Infectious Diseases in Winter: Hand-washing could save our lives." Dr. Murakami who also serves as Director of the Center for Nutrition Support & Infection Control spoke about the two major infectious diseases in winter, norovirus and influenza virus. He also touched on the infection routes and means of prevention. About 60 people came to listen to his presentation.

The patients who were at present raised some questions about how to put on a face mask and proper ways of hand-washing, etc. In his replies to the questions, Dr. Murakami referred to common misunderstanding about methods for infection prevention before the diseases going around in winter.

The 4th "Hanasu-kai Talking Session" is going to be held in January 2017.
