Gifu University Head Office for Glocalization (GHOGL) Kickoff Meeting is convened

The Gifu University Head Office for Glocalization ( "GHOGL") was officially established on Wednesday, April 1st, 2015. Under the strong leadership of President Hisataka Moriwaki, about 20 members make plans for, and develop Gifu University glocalization* strategies, and integrate institutional research (IR) functions. With Dr. Fumiaki Suzuki, Executive Director for International Affairs and Public Relations as GHOGL Director, the members will collect and analyze necessary information for glocalization. GHOGL is expected to serve as a "central command center" for glocalization in multiple fields ranging from creation of joint collaborative education programs with overseas partner universities, to Japanese language education and health care for international students. Its primal goal is to develop human resources who can play active roles locally and globally.
To mark the official establishment of GHOGL, the GHOGL Kickoff Meeting was convened on April 1st. In the meeting, the following speakers made their presentations about joint collaborative education programs which individual faculties are pushing forward today: Dr. Hiroyuki Koyama, Vice Director of GHOGL, Professor Mutsuhiro Shima, Head of the Globalization Promotion Office at the Faculty of Engineering, Dr. Masateru Senge, Dean of the United Graduate School of Agricultural Science (UGSAS), Associate Professor Momoko Tsuchiya of the International Student Center, Associate Professor Akihiro Nishio of the Health Administration Center and Dr. Bhisma K. Patel from Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati (IIT-G), India. President Hisataka Moriwaki concluded the meeting with this message: "We all need to envision the state of Gifu University's internationalization a decade later. It is hoped that our continued efforts for internationalization could pave the way for the creation of glocalized community in the future." The meeting was a great success with the larger turnout than expected.
