Delegation of Universities in South and Southeast Asia makes a courtesy visit to President Hisataka Moriwaki of Gifu University

The United Graduate School of Agricultural Science, Gifu University (UGSAS-GU) organized and hosted the 3rd UGSAS-GU Roundtable & Symposium 2014 in Miyako Hotel, Gifu City from August 4th to 6th, 2014.

On August 5th, a total of thirteen participants of the Roundtable & Symposium made a courtesy visit to President Hisataka Moriwaki of Gifu University. They are from the universities in South and Southeast Asia including Dhaka University (Bangladesh), Assam University (India), Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (India), Andalas University (Indonesia), Bogor Agricultural University, (Indonesia), Gadjah Mada University (Indonesia), The University of Lampung (Indonesia), Sebelas Maret University (Indonesia),Chulalongkorn University (Thailand), Kasetsart University (Thailand), Hanoi University of Science and Technology (Vietnam), Guangxi University (China) and Shizuoka University (Japan). Dr. Fumiaki Suzuki, Executive Director in charge of International Affairs and Public Relations and Dr. Masateru Senge, Dean of the UGSAS of Gifu University were present in the meeting.
All of the aforementioned universities have concluded either university-level or faculty -level agreement on faculty and student exchange with Gifu University, and are the members of the "International Consortium of Universities in South and Southeast Asia for the Doctoral Education in Agricultural Science and Biotechnology (IC-GU 12)," which was established in 2012 and has been operated by the UGSAS ever since.
Prior to the courtesy meeting, Gifu University conferred a visiting professorship on Dr. Siti Subandiyah of Gadjah Mada University who is one of the delegates and has been devoting herself to partnership between Gifu University and Gadjah Mada University.
In the courtesy meeting with President Moriwaki, the participants vigorously discussed and exchanged opinions concerning PR activities such as concurrent postings of programs and events on the websites of Gifu University and its sister universities for information sharing as well as possible conditions and availability for enrolling students in the planned "international liberal arts course" of Gifu University and its respective sister universities. This "international liberal arts course*" is scheduled to be introduced in Gifu University from April 2016.
