Dispatch of Staff to Support Disaster-Affected Areas Following the 2026 Kumamoto Earthquake
In response to the 2026 Kumamoto Earthquake, Gifu University dispatched staff members at the request of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) to support damage assessments and emergency safety evaluations of school facilities in the affected areas.

Team Composition: Emergency Safety Assessment Team
(Total of three members from Gifu University and Nagoya University, Tokai National Higher Education and Research System)
Activities
- Surveying damage to school facilities
- Conducting emergency safety assessments of school facilities
- Supporting safety inspections of facilities in the disaster-affected areas
In addition, the Disaster Medical Assistance Team (DMAT) from the University Hospital will engage in on-site medical relief and related activities. (See Related Links below.)
Gifu University will continue to work in cooperation with relevant organizations to support recovery and reconstruction efforts in the affected areas and contribute to their swift restoration.
