GU President YOSHIDA Kazuhiro Attends the Japan-India Joint Economic Forum
On July 2, 2026, President YOSHIDA Kazuhiro of Gifu University attended the Japan-India Joint Economic Forum held in Delhi, India, where he spoke as the only university representative from Japan and India. The forum is an important conference aimed at strengthening economic cooperation between Japan and India and was attended by Japanese Prime Minister TAKAICHI Sanae and H.E. Mr. Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India.
During the forum, President Yoshida highlighted the achievements of more than 15 years of collaboration between Gifu University and the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IITG). He introduced the first Japan-India Joint Degree Program (JDP), launched in 2019 with IITG, as well as the establishment of a partnership network with 21 universities in Northeast India. He also presented a vision for a co-creation ecosystem involving industry, academia, and government in fields such as semiconductors, aerospace, and renewable energy. Emphasizing the role of university partnerships, he expressed his belief that Japan-India collaboration driven by academic exchange will serve as a catalyst for further growth in both countries.
Gifu University will continue to contribute to the deepening of Japan-India cooperation through education, research, and human resource development.
