Professor MAKI Hideki of the Faculty of Regional Studies is publishing a book entitled Minna no Introduction to Mongolian -- It Is Similar to Classical Japanese!

Sain baina-uu! It may sound like "senbei noooooo" ("rice cracker noooooo"), but in Mongolian it means "Hello." It doesn't mean "There are no rice crackers." Two Japanese people who know absolutely no Mongolian set out to learn the language from scratch with the help of two Mongolian collaborators. What decisively sets this book apart from other introductory textbooks is the number of words used: just 108. With only those, it becomes possible to express most things in Mongolian.
