AY 2025 Rearing Program for Basin Water Environmental Leaders Certificate Award Ceremony
On Wednesday, March 25, 2026, a certificate award ceremony for AY 2025 Rearing Program for Basin Water Environmental Leaders Certificate Award Ceremony was held in the Office of the President.
This program has been implemented since FY2009 with the aim of cultivating environmental leaders who can understand, from multiple perspectives, the various water environment issues faced by countries in Asia and Africa--such as water quality, water resources, and ecosystems--and who can design and implement strategic solutions and preventive measures. Including this year's graduates, a total of 250 participants has completed the program to date, and many of them are now active as environmental leaders in countries across Asia. With the graduation of this year's participant, the program has reached a significant milestone and will conclude its activities.
In FY2025, Ms. Li Wenqing, a doctoral student from China in the Graduate School of Engineering, completed the program. The ceremony was attended by President YOSHIDA Kazuhiro, along with Professor KOYAMA Hiroyuki, Executive Director of Gifu University Organization for Promotion of Glocalization (GU-GLOCAL) and a member of the Program Steering Committee; Professor LI Fusheng, Director of the Program Promotion Office; and faculty members of the program. President Yoshida presented the certificate of completion to Ms. Li.
During a reception following the ceremony, Ms. Li shared her aspirations for the future, stating that she hopes to return to her home country and continue her research as a university faculty member. In response, President Yoshida referred to her research topic, "Improving Treated Water Quality from Surface Water Using Silver‑Impregnated Activated Carbon and Microfiltration Membrane," and encouraged her by saying, "Please continue your research on the various factors involved in water quality improvement, and let us work together with Gifu University in the future."
Through the program's graduates and other initiatives, it is expected that Gifu University's international exchanges and research collaborations with countries around the world will continue to deepen in the years to come.
