Dr. Mayumi Yamamoto, Director/Professor of the Health Administration Center, Receives the Global Leadership Award from the University of South Florida, U.S.A.

At the commencement ceremony of the University of South Florida (USF), held on December 12 (Eastern Standard Time, GMT-5), Professor Mayumi Yamamoto, Director of our university's Health Administration Center, was honored with the Global Leadership Award.

After graduating from our School of Medicine, Professor Yamamoto studied at USF as a postdoctoral fellow and completed USF's Executive MBA program for physicians. She currently serves as a professor at our Health Administration Center and the United Graduate School of Drug Discovery and Medical Information Sciences, while also being actively involved as a Visiting Professor at the USF HEALTH College of Public Health.

Our university and USF began academic exchange following the signing of an inter-departmental agreement between the two medical schools in 2016. Since then, five medical students from each university have participated annually in clinical and research training programs. In addition, 20 to 40 USF undergraduate students visit Gifu each year, providing valuable opportunities for exchange with students from our School of Medicine. Building on these initiatives, the two universities concluded a university-wide academic exchange agreement in 2020. In April 2025, as many as 20 USF executives, including the president, visited our university to hold a renewal signing ceremony.

Beyond these developments, Professor Yamamoto has played a central role in online collaborative courses and in establishing university-wide student exchange agreements. Her outstanding contributions to the development of academic collaboration between the two institutions were highly recognized, leading to this prestigious award from USF.

Further strengthening of the educational and cultural ties between the two universities is expected in the future.
