Special Lecture "Who Is a Teacher?" by Dr. MIZUKAWA Kazuhiko, Superintendent of the Gifu City Board of Education (Visiting Professor at Gifu University)

On December 15, 2025, Gifu University hosted a special lecture at the Faculty of Education, titled "Who Is a Teacher?" delivered by Dr. MIZUKAWA Kazuhiko, Superintendent of the Gifu City Board of Education and Visiting Professor at Gifu University.

This lecture was held as part of the collaborative program between the Gifu City Board of Education and the Faculty of Education, "Current Issues in School Education: Experiential Learning Through Support for Students Struggling with School Attendance." The board aims to enhance efforts to support students who are struggling with school attendance by involving university students as human resources in free spaces at junior high schools within Gifu City, while the faculty aims to enrich the teacher training curriculum and foster future educators with practical experience. The program originated from remarks made by Mayor SHIBAHASHI Masanao of Gifu City at the "Gifu City-Gifu University Collaboration Promotion Meeting" held at Gifu University on February 13, 2025.

During the lecture, Dr. Mizukawa spoke to students aspiring to become teachers, addressing the question: "What does it mean for a teacher to be a significant presence for children, and what should that presence ideally be?" Drawing on his own experience as an educator, he offered thoughtful insights that resonated strongly with the students, who listened attentively and with deep interest. 20251215edu01.jpg
