UGSAS Hosts IC-GU12 Roundtable 2025
On Monday, November 10, 2025, the United Graduate School of Agricultural Science (UGSAS) held the 14th IC-GU12 Roundtable Meeting 2025 at the Faculty of Agriculture, Shizuoka University in Shizuoka Prefecture. The meeting brought together 31 faculty members and representatives from domestic and international member universities of the International Consortium of Universities in South and Southeast Asia for the Doctoral Education in Agricultural Science and Biotechnology (IC-GU 12). Under the theme "AI and Data Science Education in the Field of Agriculture," participants shared case studies from each university and discussed the current status and challenges of AI education, its applications in agriculture, and the development of educational networks.
At the same venue, the UGSAS-GU Poster Presentation on Agricultural Sciences 2025 was also held, where 44 UGSAS students presented their research posters. Students actively engaged in discussions with attendees, gaining insights into the latest research trends and opportunities to further develop their own studies. After the presentations, a vote-based selection process was conducted, and five UGSAS students received the Best Presentation Award.
In addition, from November 11 to 13, the VI Asia Symposium on Quality Management in Postharvest Systems was held in Shizuoka City, in collaboration with the International Horticultural Congress (IHC), the Japanese Society for Horticultural Science, and Shizuoka University. Nine UGSAS students gave oral and poster presentations. The symposium, themed "Innovative Technology for Sustainable Production and Preservation," featured discussions on quality management technologies in postharvest systems, introductions to cutting-edge technologies, and sharing of research achievements from various universities. Notably, Ms. Nahar Ashrafun, a second-year UGSAS student in the Department of Science of Biological Production, received the ISHS Young Minds Award for the Best Oral Presentation. During the event period, participants also joined a study tour visiting agricultural facilities in Shizuoka Prefecture.
