Meeting with Principals of Senior High Schools in Gifu Prefecture
On Friday, July 25, 2025, a meeting was held with principals of senior high schools in Gifu Prefecture. This annual meeting has been conducted since 2006 with the aim of promoting mutual understanding between senior high schools in Gifu Prefecture and Gifu University regarding their current situations and challenges.
This year, we welcomed 16 principals and secretary-generals, including Mr. Ono, Chairperson of the Gifu Prefecture High School Principals Association (Principal of Gifu Senior High School). From Gifu University, President YOSHIDA Kazuhiro, Vice President MASHIKO Norifumi, and Vice President SUGIYAMA Makoto, along with 19 faculty and staff members, participated in the meeting.
The meeting began with President Yoshida's presentation on the current status and policies of Gifu University. Following this, Mr. Ono and Mr. Nakamura, Principal of Hida Senior High School, spoke on the theme of "Status of Senior High Schools Regarding DX, AI, and Regional Collaboration Activities," sharing the current situation and challenges faced by senior high schools, as well as future prospects for collaboration between the university and the local community.
Subsequently, Gifu University presented reports on educational DX and mathematical data science education. This was followed by a presentation from GU students using the student status management system "Crescendo," sharing their experiences in self-management through portfolio creation. Then, Vice President Sugiyama reported on the university's regional collaboration activities, focusing on high school-university partnership projects. Additionally, students from the School of Social System Management, GU presented their fieldwork report on the Takayama Autumn Festival (Hachiman Festival).
During the meeting, the Gifu Prefectural High School Principals Association expressed various opinions and requests, including expectations for high school-university collaboration and entrance examination reforms, based on the current situation in educational settings. A lively exchange of views took place through a Q&A session. The meeting served as a valuable opportunity for both the university and senior high schools to deepen their understanding of each other's circumstances and challenges.
After the meeting, participants toured the Center for Advanced and Smart Die Engineering Technology on campus, where Professor YOSHIDA Yoshinori, Director of the Center and students provided facility overview and answered questions from the participants.
Gifu University will continue to actively engage in dialogue with senior high schools across prefecture, fostering mutual understanding and strengthening collaborative efforts.
