2025 Faculty of Education Public Lecture: "Collaboration and Support with Families in Positive Behavior Support" Held Online
On Saturday, August 2, 2025, the Faculty of Education hosted an online public lecture titled "Collaboration and Support with Families in Positive Behavior Support," attracting 257 participants from across Japan, including educators and parents.
Positive Behavior Support (PBS) is a framework aimed at enhancing the quality of life (QOL) of individuals by promoting and supporting positive behaviors. Effective implementation of PBS requires close collaboration between guardians and support providers.
In this lecture, Professor OKAMURA Shoji from Hyogo University of Teacher Education spoke about how support providers can engage with, understand, and collaborate with families. He guided participants through the process of building partnerships between families and support providers, reflecting on the challenges families face and how support providers can respond to them. The session emphasized the importance of mutual respect and shared efforts in providing effective support.
Through the lecture, participants gained insights into what is needed to work respectfully and collaboratively with families in the context of positive behavior support.
