Gifu Regional Council for the Promotion of International Exchange Holds Annual General Meeting for FY2025
On Thursday, July 3, 2025, the Gifu Regional Council for the Promotion of International Student Exchange, for which Gifu University serves as the secretariat, held its FY2025 General Meeting online. A total of 27 organizations participated.
Established in February 1990, the Council aims to facilitate the smooth acceptance of international students and promote exchange activities within Gifu Prefecture. Its members include universities located in Gifu, local governments, economic organizations, international exchange groups, and private entities. Since its inception, the President of Gifu University has served as the Chair of the Council.
The meeting began with opening remarks by Vice President Lim Lee Wah, followed by a keynote lecture titled "Current Status and Initiatives in International Student Policy" delivered by Mr. MIYAKAWA Takuya, Counselor for International Affairs, Higher Education Bureau, Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT). The lecture provided a detailed overview of the latest developments in international student exchange, national policies on international students, and various support systems for them.
The Council will continue to respond effectively to changes in the environment surrounding international students in Gifu Prefecture. It will actively promote initiatives that benefit both international students and the broader Gifu region, while strengthening collaboration with related organizations.
