Open Lecture "Science of Health: How to stay healthy"

The Joint Graduate School of Veterinary Sciences of Gifu University hosted the open lecture titled, "Science of Health: How to stay healthy" at Gifu University Satellite Campus (Gifu City) on Thursday, March 23, 2023. Fifty people attended the lecture, most of whom were local residents interested in health matters.

The Joint Graduate School of Veterinary Sciences has been promoting leading-edge research activities in a wide range of fields which include not only veterinary sciences but also life sciences for animals and humans. The lecture was hosted by the School to give its achievements back to the community and exchange opinions with the local citizens.

Three lecturers made their presentations on the theme, "How to live an active and healthy life while maintaining a quality of life." Japanese people today have become more interested in "healthy lifespan" (a period when people can enjoy their lives without restrictions due to their illnesses) because our lifespan keeps on expanding every year. The lecturers spoke about "Ear functions and hearing impairment," "Why do we put on weight? Unravel the secret of obesity," and "Medicine and its potential risk."

After the lectures, the participants asked questions to the speakers about daily concerns and medical, scientific inquiries. Active exchange with the speakers helped the participants develop their understanding of health and how to stay healthy in life.
