The Medical Education Development Center (MEDC), Gifu University hosted the "84th Medical Education Seminar & Workshop (conducted online)" for three days from Thursday, January 26 to Saturday January 28, 2023. A total of 161 people including lecturers attended six workshops and seven "MED Taaalk."

In the workshops, participants discussed given themes such as "Brushing up on my study support for students," "Easy Japanese," and "First step for research on medical staff education." For instance, participants exchanged opinions on how to seek research questions, collect information from prior research in order to assist students with difficulties in proceeding with research under relevant themes. As a result, participants learned how to formulate research questions that could meet the real needs of people.

"MED Taaalk" which started in May 2022 opened to the public for the second time. It enables viewers to watch video-linked images for short presentations by lecturers and subsequent communications between lecturers and moderators. Viewers can also ask questions by sending messages through the "chat" function. In "MED Taaalk 4" with the title, "What's a Nurse Practitioner (NP)?" a lecturer who is working as NP, gave her views on the educational curriculum for NP and her assignments in the workplace. She noted, "Patients have easier access to NP than doctors for medical consultations and they receive professional medical instructions. To create a better working environment for doctors and ease shortages of doctors, we continue to encourage people to acquire NP certificates and make NP more familiar to the general public."

As a joint usage/research center for medical education, MEDC holds a medical education seminar and workshop three times a year for promotion, development and improvement of medical staff education in Japan. The "85th Medical Education Seminar & Workshop" is scheduled from Wednesday, May 24 through Friday, May 26, 2023. It is held concurrently with the 24th Staff Training on Wednesday, May 24 and Thursday, May 25.
