The 9th UGSAS-GU Symposium & Roundtable 2021
The United Graduate School of Agricultural Science (UGSAS), Gifu University held the following two, on-and-offline international conferences on campus on November 10 and 11, 2021:
- (Wednesday, November 10) "The 9th IC-GU12 Roundtable Meeting" with the participation of "International Consortium of Universities in South and Southeast Asia for the Doctoral Education in Agricultural Science and Biotechnology (IC-GU 12; comprising 20 universities from 9 countries in South and Southeast Asia including Japan)."
- (Wednesday, November 10 and Thursday, November 11) "The 9th UGSAS-GU International Symposium on a Recent Progress in Forest Ecology and Management 2021" attended by young researchers (alumni of UGSAS) who have already been playing an active role in academic communities in the world.
In the Roundtable Meeting, 27 academic staff from 16 partner universities discussed the state of online classes conducted at each university and online educational collaboration among faculty and staff.
In the two-day, on-and-offline Symposium, Dr. So Hanaoka, Director, Hokkaido Regional Breeding Office, Forest Tree Breeding Center and three researchers gave their keynote speeches over forest ecology, management, etc. It was followed by presentations by 15 researchers and discussions.
In the afternoon of November 11, "Online Poster Session" was cohosted by the River Basin Research Center, Gifu University at which 21 students made their poster presentations. Of them, five students were presented with the "Best Poster Award."
Both the Round Meeting and Symposium introduced the latest research environment/situations at home and abroad, and people were offered some hints of solving issues related university education, etc.
