President of MIRAI Co., Ltd., Kentaro Ueda and President of Agricultural Association Sakurao Productive Cooperation (MIRAI, located in Gifu City, Sakurao, located in Yamagata City, Gifu Prefecture) kindly donated rice (400kg) to Gifu University on May 29, 2020.
Mr. Yoshiyuki Onda, a member of Gifu Prefectural Assembly and Mr. Ueda were senior and junior students at school. The two agreed to donate "Hatsushimo" rice variety (brand rice produced in Yamagata City) to Gifu University to encourage students who are facing many difficulties by the spread of COVID-19 infections. Mr. Hirano also joined this drive and presented rice (100kg) to the university.
President of Gifu University, Hisataka Moriwaki conveyed his deep appreciation to their kind support for the students, many of whom are experiencing tough situations due to the global spread of infections and economic recessions that followed.
Rice-Presentation Ceremony was held at Kurono Dormitory on campus. On behalf of the residents, Mr. Yudai Ishihara said, "We are so happy with rice donation. Many Gifu University students are not able to work part-time, and are worried about their future. We look forward to enjoying the rice, and study harder than ever."
The rice donated will be distributed to Kurono Dormitory residents and international students living in the International House.
