Study Abroad Fair, Fall 2019

Gifu University Organization for Promotion of Glocalization (GU-GLOCAL) hosted "Study Abroad Fair, Fall 2019 - Let's expand study abroad network" on November 13, 2019. Until last year, presentations by the students who returned from their study abroad were the main features of the fairs, but as a new attempt, students set up a booth for direct communications with juniors interested in studying overseas in the near future.

With Professor Mutsuhiro Shima, Division Head of the Study Abroad Promotion Division, GU-GLOCAL as a moderator, the fair started with a speech by Vice President Dr. Fumiaki Suzuki, Executive Director for International Affairs and Public Relations.

In the first section, staff from the Inbound and Outbound Student Affairs Section, GU-GLOCAL spoke about study abroad programs, scholarships, etc. supported by GU-GLOCAL, which was followed by Ms. Mayumi Matsui, Specially Appointed Assistant Professor (GU-GLOCAL) introduced Spring Program (a short-term study program at Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IITG, India)), and introduction of booths by the students.

In the second session, students in each booth were waiting for those who are interests in studying abroad, gave them explanations about relevant programs and talked about their experiences overseas. Visitors and the students engaged in active communication for some time.

Comments made by the participants include their appreciation for a direct, interactive communication opportunity benefiting both returnees and aspirants of studying abroad.

It is hoped that more GU students become motivated to study abroad taking full advantage of a network built among the attendees of the fair.
