The University of Lampung Delegation Visit the Gifu University School of Medicine

Prof. Dr. Cipta Ginting, Director of Office of Collaboration Development and International Affairs,Dr. Dyah Wulan Sumekar RW, SKM, M. Kes., Dean of Faculty of Medicine,Dr. Fitria Saftarina Mahyudin, MD. M. Sc., Vice Dean of Academic and Collaboration,Dr. Johns Fatriyadi S., MD., M. Kes. Vice Dean of General Affairs and Finance, the University Lampung, Indonesia, visited the Gifu University School of Medicine on October 28 and 29, 2019 (GU concluded the exchange agreement with the University of Lampung in April 2006). Professor Masateru Senge of the Faculty of Applied Biological Sciences who is serving as a coordinator for the University of Lampung, arranged the delegation's two-day visit to Gifu University.

The Faculty of Medicine, the University of Lampung was established in 2011 which offers undergraduate students three programs; basic medicine, clinical medicine and pharmaceutical sciences. In addition, the faculty offers the public health course for master's degree students. The faculty's primal goal is to be included in the best 10 universities in Indonesia as the faulty specializing in Agromedicine by 2025.

The delegation met with their GU counterparts at the School of Medicine and discussed medical education in Japan and future exchanges between the two universities.

The attendees from Gifu University were:

- Professor Tohru Iwama, Dean of the School of Medicine

- Professor Kazuhiro Yoshida, Director of the University Hospital

- Professor Yasuyuki Suzuki, the Medical Education Development Center (MEDC) and

- Professor Hitoshi Nagaoka, the Graduate School of Medicine

Professor Suzuki and Professor Hiroyuki Morita, Director of the Center for Clinical Training and Career Development (the University Hospital) made their presentations for the delegates on the current status of Japanese medicine, the university's medical education curriculums and education for resident physicians. The delegates were later invited to tour around the school facilities such as the Center for Clinical Training and Career Development, General Medicine (outpatients, the University Hospital), Skill Laboratory and Tutorial Room, etc.

On the following day of October 29, the delegation observed the hospital's earthquake-proof structures and the helicopter emergency medical service facilities.

It is hoped that the latest visit by the delegation from the University of Lampung will further enhance the partnership between the two universities in the years to come.
