ESD Qualia presented with the Letter of Appreciation at Gifu City 130th Anniversary

ESD Qualia, one of the Gifu University's student clubs, was presented with the letter of appreciation from Gifu City at Gifu City 130th Anniversary ceremony held at Juroku Plaza (Gifu City) on July 1, 2019.

ESD stands for "Education for Sustainable Development." About thirty members of ESD Qualia have been working hard for a various kind of conservation activities in and around Gifu City. For example, some students volunteered to address litter problems at Ise Bay (stretching Mie and Aichi prefectures) and attended community activities at Motai, Gujo City, Gifu Prefecture.

The 130th anniversary ceremony was held to celebrate a new start of the Gifu City government and 100 individuals and organizations in six categories (contribution, sports, culture and arts, regional promotion, traditional technology and goodwill) were presented with the letters of appreciation for their distinguished achievements and contributions to Gifu City.

ESD Qualia was awarded in the category of regional promotion. Since its start, the members participated in monthly environmental activities at Dachibokubora, Gifu City, and convened student environment meetings every fall in collaboration with Gifu City. All these efforts were acknowledged and honored by Gifu City.

At the meeting to report the awarding, members reconfirmed their commitment to the protection of environment in the years to come.
