Fourth Press Conference by President AY 2019

Gifu University held the fourth press conference by President AY 2019 on June 25, 2019.

President first spoke about an initiative called, "Campus Creation through the Blessing of Rich Groundwater," and its role in the Environmental University Declaration of Gifu University. Executive Director for General Affairs and Finance and Vice President Seiki Ofuji later explained the use of campus groundwater. His speech was followed by the brief remarks by Professor Koji Kamiya (Faculty of Engineering) and the university students on label design renewal for "Nomiyasui," (a plastic bottled water) and "Yasa-cha," (a plastic bottled tea) using the groundwater on campus.

Water is pumped up from the seven wells at the university. Approximately 96% of water used here is supplied by the groundwater. The water is used for daily life, agriculture for the university farms, air conditioners at the University Hospital, etc.

The university students initiated and commercialized "Nomiyasui" water (sales started in 2013) and "Yasa-cha" tea (sales started in 2016) with the campus groundwater. On the occasion of Gifu University 70th anniversary, the label designs for the two brands were renewed.

Both designs use the university color in hope that they will associate consumers with Gifu University. These designs were determined and finalized after many discussions among the students at the faculties of engineering, regional studies and education. Young generation in particular will find them easy to pick up at the store.

As an environmental university, we will continue to promote energy and resource conservation, reduce environmental burden, and facilitate environmental education and research activities by maximizing the advantages and strengths that Gifu University has.
