G-CHAIN International Symposium
The Center for Highly Advanced Integration of Nano and Life Sciences (G-CHAIN) hosted the "International Symposium on Bio-CHAINs from Single Molecules to Highly Organized Systems" at Gifu University on June 3 to 4, 2019. The symposium had three major objectives: first was presentations on G-CHAIN research activities on glycans (sugar chains) and other molecular chains. Second was to promote interdisciplinary research inside and outside the center, and the third was to kick off the exosome project focusing on a single molecule observation. The third is a research theme adopted by JST* CREST in the category of "extracellular particles."
At the opening ceremony, Director Hideharu Ishida of the center greeted the audience with the following remarks; "We expect that sharing research information with everyone could give a great momentum to bring about totally unexpected research results in different fields."
Approximately 100 people attended the symposium including researchers from Germany, the United States and India as well as researchers all across Japan. They kept on engaging in active discussions after the presentations. *JST: Japan Science and Technology Agency
