Gifu University Student Report Competition Awarding Ceremony AY 2018 was held at the Academic Core, Gifu University on April 24, 2019.

This awarding ceremony is held every year with the following purposes and directions: 1) encourage students' autonomous studies by awarding reports of excellence and their writers, 2) offer model reports to students by making quality reports public.

While President Hisataka Moriwaki was observing the ceremony, Professor Hitoshi Iwahashi, Head of Active-Learning Support Division, Organization for Promotion of Higher Education and Student Support handed commendation certificates and extra prizes to the four winners. They are:

■Highest Award:

Mr. Kan Fukui (4th year student, Social Studies Education, Faculty of Education)

Title: "Development of Social Studies at Junior High School Toward SDGs: Local Communities of Japan / Kyushu District as Case Study"

■Award for Excellence:

Ms. Kanako Kakehi (2nd year student, Course of Agricultural and Environmental Science, Faculty of Applied Biological Sciences)

Title: "Kodály Method Spreading Around the Globe"

■Award for Excellence: Mr. Hiroki Ochiai (4th year student, Department of Chemistry and Biomolecular Science, Faculty of Engineering)

Title: "Japanese Sake: Acid Degree - Correlation with Alcohol Content & Direction to Pursue for Gifu University Sake from Sake Preference Survey Results"

■Honorable Award: Ms. Chihiro Kuwahara (2nd year student, Teaching Course, Faculty of Education)

Title: "Public Universities in Gifu Prefecture and Contribution to Local Community"

"I started with something I am interested in, and made a lot of discoveries while making a report. I found learning something new is really fun." said Mr. Ochiai.

President Moriwaki praised their excellent works and said, "Every theme is quite intriguing. I wish many more students apply for the competition next year as well."

The reports awarded at the ceremony will be carried at the "Annual Report on Gifu University Organization for Promotion of Higher Education and Student Support." We look forward to more students' application for the Student Report Competition AY 2019.
