Study Abroad Fair AY 2019

Gifu University Organization for Promotion of Glocalization (GU-GLOCAL) hosted the Study Abroad Fair AY 2019 on April 17. The fair started in 2012 for the purpose of sharing crucial information with students about studying abroad including the level of language proficiency required, the university's study-abroad programs in the hope of more students studying overseas in the future.

With Professor Mutsuhiro Shima, Study Abroad Promotion Division Head of GU GLOCAL serving as a moderator, the fair began with the greeting by Dr. Fumiaki Suzuki, GU-GLOCAL Executive Director (Vice President and Executive Director for International Affairs and Public Relations).

At the outset, staff from the Inbound and Outbound Student Affairs Office gave a summary of study abroad programs and support systems, which was followed by explanations given from the representatives of the Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE) and the Eiken Foundation of Japan concerning TOEFL and IELTS.

Next, students who took part in summer programs, exchange programs and Valor and V Drug Overseas Training Scholarship made presentations about their experiences abroad. They spoke about progress in their language studies, understanding of different sense of values, and new friendship built through their staying abroad. All of their presentations gave the audience an impression of growth and maturity as individuals after going through a lot of experiences in foreign countries.

A total of eighty-six people attended the fair, and everyone was intently listening to the program details and interesting anecdotes of students. Some of them kept talking to staff or students for some time after the fair.
