MOU with Minokamo City

Gifu University and Minokamo City (Gifu Prefecture) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for staff exchange on March 19, 2019.

The two concluded a comprehensive partnership in September 2015 to address regional challenges and develop human resources, and have been closely cooperating with one another for mutual growth. The new MOU will enable the two to tackle regional issues by way of staff exchange and strong partnership among university professors, city employees and local residents.

In the signing ceremony, Mayor Seiichi Ito of Minokamo City made the following statement; "Minokamo City has the highest percentage of foreign nationals in Japan, and our hope is to become a role model for multicultural coexistence society. The city has already implemented a wide range of coexistence plans, and the new staff exchange arrangement with Gifu University will become a centerpiece of these plans."

"Minokamo City with the highest percentage of foreign residents is expected to be a place that has excellent, exemplary coexistence models, and we all look forward to our active participation in the city's endeavors for coexistence by offering people an opportunity to study and research." Said President Hisataka Moriwaki.

Both the university and the city will hold discussions and talks for community building, implementation of coexistence programs for foreign residents.
