Professor Ebihara and Associate Professor Yanase visit Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, India
Gifu University is planning to start four international joint doctoral and master programs (JD programs) with Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IITG) and the National University of Malaysia (UKM) respectively in 2019. Gifu University signed the Memorandum of Understanding with IITG in September 2014, and with UKM in September 2016. The establishment of JD programs is expected to promote the university's internationalization efforts and enhance its educational and research competitive edge in the world.

Professor Akio Ebihara and Associate Professor Emiko Yanase of the Faculty of Applied Biological Sciences visited IITG from September 12-16, 2018. They discussed the specifics of the JD program operation and details of classes with their counterparts at IITG. The meeting took the form of teleconferencing between IITG attendees and Gifu University JD working group members. Active and lively opinion exchange unfolded in real time.
Professor Ebihara and Associate Professor Yanase were invited to give lectures at the closing ceremony of Vigyan Jyoti (workshop on women education) on September 14. This workshop primarily focusses on female senior high school students living in northeast India and its objective is to give them impetus to advance into higher educational institutions in the future. The workshop was attended by 32 female students, and they intently listened to the two professors' presentations.
Gifu University delegation's latest visit to IITG became another opportunity to give both universities a head start in the JD programs starting in 2019.
