Announcement: Cancellation of classes if a typhoon warning is publicly issued and traffic services are suspended

Typhoon No. 24 for this season is approaching Japan. Please confirm whether classes will be held as scheduled or cancelled if a typhoon warning is issued and traffic services are suspended.

1. If a "special warning"1) or a "typhoon warning" is issued across Gifu City, classes or examinations are cancelled in accordance with the time of issuance:

a. All morning classes are cancelled if a "special warning" or a "typhoon warning" is issued as of 6:30 a.m.

b. All classes for the entire day are cancelled if a "special warning" or a "typhoon warning" is issued as of 11:00 a.m.

2. If a "special warning" or a "typhoon warning" is issued across Gifu City before classes begin, or the weather is predicted to worsen, decisions regarding classes will be made by the Executive Director for Academic and Affiliated School Affairs.

3. If traffic services are suspended due to natural disasters or a strike:

If train services of both the Tokaido Line (Nagoya-Ogaki Station) and the Meitetsu Line (Nagoya-Gifu Station) or bus services from Gifu Station to Gifu University are suspended due to natural disasters or a strike, the cancellation of classes is determined in accordance with number 1 above.

4. If the situations do not fall into any of the above categories, the President and the Executive Director for Academic and Affiliated School Affairs will meet and notify the faculty of their decision.

5. The cancellation of classes due to the circumstances described in numbers 1 to 3 above will be posted on the Gifu University website, but posting of the information about number 1.a. (as of 6:30 a.m.) could be delayed. Please check the latest weather information on the TV, radio, or the internet.

Special warning 1) :a warning of heavy rains, strong winds, blizzards or snowstorms, etc. the severity of which is greater than the level of an ordinary warning.
