International Month 2017: Lecture on International Student Employment Promotion Program: International Student Employment Situations & Successful Case Study

Gifu University Head Office for Glocalization (GHOGL) held a "Lecture on International Student Employment Promotion Program: International Student Employment Situations & Successful Case Study" at Room No.6 of the University Hall on November 17, 2017. As part of a Career Development Program for International Students commissioned by MEXT (the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology), "Aigi Career Development Consortium for International Students", the lecture had three main objectives: provide employment information in Chubu Region to job seeking international students, inform students about necessary qualifications to be hired by Japanese firms, and offer lots of useful tips to gain employment to students. Thirty-eight international students attended the lecture.

Prior to the opening of the lecture, Dr. Fumiaki Suzuki, Executive Director for International Affairs and Public Relations, Vice President gave an opening speech.
Ms. Ayumi Minamida of Mitsubishi UFJ Research and Consulting Co., Ltd. gave a speech, "International Student Employment Situations in Chubu Region." She has long been conducting various researches on international human resources. In her speech, she introduced overall employment situations in Japan by citing statistical data she has compiled.

Next, Mr. Masaaki Satake of NABEYA CO., LTD. who is responsible for hiring international personnel, spoke about a successful case study of his company's utilization of foreign workforce. He began his speech with a company summary and continued to talk about a growing interest in employing international students by Japanese companies. The following comments were made by the students in attendance; "Both of their speeches were quite interesting," "Because I am looking for a job in Japan, I can learn a lot of things during this International Month full of educational and informative events.

GHOL continues to work with local businesses and municipalities and commit ourselves to implementing "Career Education for Corporate Japan," one of the key elements to find jobs in Japan or Japanese firms overseas.
